Micuento, founded in 2013 by Muriel Bourgeois and Javier Falcó and located in Barcelona, was born with the vision of getting all children to love reading, and with it, to help them enjoy a better future.

Many different international reports confirm that having good reading skills between the ages of 6 and 9 years old, allows children to achieve better results in evaluations of all other subjects, and consequently, reduce the school dropout rate.

All children like stories and, even more, if they are the main character. Through its proprietary technology, Micuento allows children and their families to become an integral part of the story, centring their attention and stimulating their imagination in such a way that promotes a more prolonged and enjoyable reading experience.

After six years of generating content for children, MiCuento has developed a catalogue of more than 30 titles translated into 8 languages, is already selling in more than 10 countries, and growing year by year. Among its strategic partners Micuento has the personalized Little Prince version and now they will be launching in November the version of this book for children with Dyslexia.

The company is determined to continue expanding internationally and, above all, further enhance its social vocation, through the improvement of its personalization platform, having in mind those children who are experiencing some sort of learning difficulty. To accomplish these objectives, it recently signed a € 2.5 million capital increase round with IMPACT Partners.

Micuento had previously obtained the support of other partners such as Intelectium Ventures, Banc de Sabadell, Institut Calatà de Finances or the Institut Català d’Empreses Culturals, in addition to several business angels.

With this transaction, IMPACT Partners invests for the first time in Spain through its fourth growth fund. The Paris-based impact investor started the activity in 2007 with the firm belief that supporting entrepreneurs with purpose can improve society without giving up return on investment.

Recently, and led by Elena Rico and Nicolas Touboulic, the group created Impact Partners Iberica S.L., the advisory office in Barcelona to cover activity in Spain and Portugal. This new office joins to the offices in Paris, Frankfurt and Copenhagen. With this network, more than 300 million euros under management and a team of more than 30 people, IMPACT Partners wants to position itself as the first pan-European impact investment platform.

After the investment in Micuento, IMPACT Partners will continue to actively look for companies that want to generate a positive social impact in Europe. Companies must present a validated business model, propose a European expansion plan and demonstrate the social impact obtained to date. These companies could be supported both financially (through contributions ranging from 1 million euros to up to 10 million euros, taking a minority position in the capital), and as well as personalized advice.

Micuento closes one of the most relevant social impact investment rounds carried out to date in Spain and demonstrates that it is possible to create a company with a social purpose and with high growth potential.
