Luis Baños Abogados has advised BeGas Motor on Gasib's acquisition of an equity stake in the company, as part of a significant corporate transaction aimed at advancing sustainable mobility solutions.
The transaction, which was negotiated over several months due to its technical complexity, has culminated in Gasib becoming a shareholder in BeGas Motor. The investment forms part of a broader framework agreement in which the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology and Innovation (CDTI), through its Innvierte programme, also participated.
Gasib's investment marks another milestone in the company's strategy to promote energy solutions that accelerate the transition towards lower-carbon professional transport. As a result of the transaction, Gasib has become BeGas Motor's third-largest shareholder.
The partnership also includes a joint commercial agreement that will enable both companies to offer an integrated value proposition, combining the supply of autogas (LPG) and bio-LPG, refuelling infrastructure, and commercial vehicles powered entirely by LPG.
The transaction comes at a time when the transport sector remains one of Spain's largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions. In particular, heavy-duty transport faces significant challenges in the large-scale deployment of alternatives such as electrification, given the demanding requirements for vehicle range, payload capacity, and operational availability. In this context, autogas and bio-LPG provide an immediately deployable solution for reducing the carbon footprint of commercial transport.
As Gasib's Chief Executive Officer, Filipe Henriques, stated, "We are not only investing in industrial innovation developed in Spain; we are also creating an integrated solution that enables commercial fleets to decarbonize immediately and competitively."
