The venture capital firm founded in Barcelona has announced the final closure of this fund, which has had the participation of national and international institutional investors and family offices. Abac Capital currently has 600 million euros of assets under management and offices in Barcelona and Madrid.
The objective of the fund is to lead the transformation of the invested companies, while setting sustainability objectives and facilitating their growth in different areas: taking advantage of the consolidation of fragmented markets, the search for synergies and the creation of digital platforms that allow internationalization and organic growth.
In 2021, Abac Capital became one of the first private equity managers in Europe to obtain B Corp certification. With this fund, Abac continues to develop its commitment to being an investor with a positive impact. The fund wants to transform the companies in which it invests into sustainability leaders, with transversal ESG (environmental, social and governance) objectives throughout its portfolio, in addition to specific objectives for each company depending on the sector in which they operate.
As of today, the fund already has 4 portfolio companies: KBV (Kitchen Bath Ventures), kitchen furniture manufacturer; BTSA, European leader in the production of natural antioxidants for cosmetic uses and human and animal food and two Catalan companies: the Intermas Group, manufacturer of technical materials used in the manufacture of wind blades, air filters and water and sustainable agriculture products, and Iberconseil, the leader in Spain in the distribution of specialty cheeses and dairy products, introducing premium cheeses from all over Europe to a highly fragmented Spanish market.
