King & Wood Mallesons has advised Spanish venture capital firm Swanlaab Venture Factory on the structuring and first close of its inaugural fund, Swanlaab Giza Invierte Venture Fund I.
The fund received capital commitments from, among others, the public institution CDTI (Centre for Industrial Technological Development), which has provided €12 million to the fund from its investment programme Invierte. CDTI aims to support the development and innovation of Spanish companies.
With this fund Swanlaab aims to make investments from €1 to €3 million in Spanish IT startups.
Established in 2014, Swanlaab Venture Factory is a venture capital fund with a professional backup provided by the Israeli venture capital group Giza Venture Capital (Giza VC).
With more than 20 years of experience, Giza stands at the forefront of Israel's venture capital industry, having made more than 100 investments and achieved more than 40 successful exits. Since 1992, Giza has raised six funds and invested over $600 million.
