COFIDES will accompany Tirant lo Blanch in its consolidation in Costa Rica. To this end, it has granted a joint venture loan for an amount of 737,000 euros, taken from the FONPYME fund and its own resources, for the purchase of a Costa Rican company that specialises in legal database subscriptions. In total, this SME will invest 1.54 million euros in the acquisition of this company, which has been marketing one of its virtual libraries for more than 10 years.

Costa Rica has 25 schools and universities that teach Law in its different levels of study (undergraduate, specialisation, master's and doctoral degrees). It is one of the countries with the highest number of lawyers per capita in the world, with an approximate proportion of 390 lawyers per hundred thousand inhabitants, which makes it a relevant market for Tirant lo Blanch. Likewise, by strengthening the legal system of Costa Rica, this project aims to contribute to the work that the country is doing to improve access and quality in the provision of justice administration services to its citizens.

The director of Internationalisation at COFIDES, Ana Cebrián, has stressed how "at COFIDES we work to promote the growth of Spanish SMEs in emerging markets, thus contributing to the creation of employment and the transfer of knowledge." Financial support for projects such as Tirant lo Blanch's expansion in Costa Rica "also affects aspects such as improving professional training and access to knowledge to improve legal certainty, in addition to favouring social and labour inclusion.”

This project contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth.
