The venture capital fund ICF Venture Tech II has invested €0.5 million in the Catalan company Vytrus Biotech. The biotechnology company, founded in 2009 as a spin-off of the University of Barcelona's Faculty of Pharmacy, bases its business on a technology of vegetable stem cell culture used to develop, produce and market vegetable active ingredients of high added value used for cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications.

The ICF investment, the first carried out through the entity's new venture capital fund, will boost the company's growth and internationalization thanks to the new commercial strategy. This is ICF's second investment with Vytrus: In March 2018 it closed on a €200,000 participative loan through the IFEM.

The ICF investment is part of a financing round of €1.5 million aimed at boosting the growth of Vytrus. 70% of the remaining million has been obtained through different institutional and minority investors, and the other 30% will be closed in the coming weeks through the crowdfunding platform Sociosinversores.com

Vytrus Biotech, a company based in Terrassa, applies the technology of vegetable stem cells culture to the cosmetic and health sectors. It develops and produces totally natural, highly sustainable and highly effective active ingredients that serve to apply to sensitive skin or to fight conditions such as hair loss or acne. In recent years, Vytrus products have won 5 top-rate international awards.

Currently, it has a very diversified portfolio of products that are sold in 20 countries worldwide through relevant distributors of the sector. Since its creation in 2009, Vytrus has consolidated its growth, reaching a turnover of €887,000, 38% higher than in 2017.
