Compañía Española de Financiación del Desarrollo, COFIDES SA has extended the funding previously granted to Opticalia in 2015 (€600,000) to facilitate their commercial deployment in Colombia.
To do this, COFIDES has granted a loan venture joint of €1,000,000 from the Company’s own resources. The project total investment amounts to €1.5 million.
With this new agreement, the funding granted by COFIDES is to be used to expand the Opticalia business model in Colombia in 2015, where it has previous experience. The project has achieved great commercial success and exceeded expectations with the launch of 110 optical outlets instead of the originally planned 75. As a result, the company, which has increased its spending, requested an extension of the original project.
OPTICALIA is involved in the purchase, sale, marketing and distribution of eyewear articles and sunglasses. Its business model is based on the association of Optical professionals and selling exclusive brands. Opticalia has a variety of products that complement their position in the sector through massive advertising campaigns for exclusive fashion brands, setting them apart from their competitors.
The company has about 600 outlets in Spain, 190 in Portugal and 110 in Colombia and has the exclusive rights to commercialise optical products for major Spanish brands. OPTICALIA Colombia was established in January 2015 and is associated with over 110 opticians with a wide acceptance in the country. In 2015 the Company had a total of 86 workers, 70 of whom are based in Spain.
COFIDES is a combined private-public concern, which since 1988 has provided financial support to Spanish enterprises abroad. COFIDES manages the FIEX and FONPYME funds on behalf of the State Secretariat of Commerce, within the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. The stockholders include the Bank of Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), Santander Bank, Popular Bank, Sabadell Bank and CAF (Development Bank of Latin America).
