Meridia Capital Partners (“Meridia Capital”) announced the acquisition of 11 office buildings in Spain from GE Capital Real Estate . 7 assets are located in Barcelona with the remaining 4 in Madrid. The portfolio has a total surface area of 84,000 square metres (66% in Barcelona and 34% in Madrid). The properties are located predominantly throughout new business areas in Spain’s two main cities. The Barcelona portfolio includes the Meridian building, a 24,000 sqm office block spread over 18 floors.

Juan Barba, Partner , Managing Director for Real Estate at Meridia Capital , said “ This acquisition, the fourth carried out by ‘ Meridia Iberian Rea l Estate Fund ’ (‘Meridia II’), is a big step forward . It has increased our exposure to the office segment significantly. We continue to deploy equity in a very conscious and meaningful way, carefully selecting those deals that we believe can add greater va lue to our investors”.

The Founder and CEO of Meridia Capital, Javier Faus , reinforced his commitment to continue investing in the Spanish real estate sector which , according to his statement " offers very interesting opportunities after the tough times th e market has been through ".

Meridia Capital was advised on the deal by CBRE , Aguirre Newman, Garrigues, KPMG and Deerns.
