InnoEnergy announces its first call for start-ups across Spain and Portugal, in which is offering support worth up €500k to the most innovative entrepreneurs and small businesses working towards a sustainable energy future.

This support is available both through the InnoEnergy Highway© programme for early stage start-ups with products ready to be in the market in less than 2 years, and the InnoEnergy Boostway, designed to accelerate the growth and enhance the performance of sustainable energy businesses as they scale through sales growth, industrialisation and internationalisation.

Successful applicants will gain access to a network of more than 300 partners and InnoEnergy’s European VC community; board-level advice and mentorship; and a front-row seat at European energy events, including The Business Booster – InnoEnergy’s annual international networking event where companies across the energy value chain attend to meet innovations under one roof.

Josep-Miquel Torregrosa, our Business Creation Officer, says: “Innovation is the answer if Europe is to succeed in reaching a sustainable energy future. We’re on a mission to find businesses with new ideas, products, and solutions that have the potential to make a real difference – and offer them the rocket fuel they need to achieve commercialisation.”

“This call for start-ups is all about identifying the best and brightest young sustainable energy businesses and offering them a catalyst for growth. More than just funding, start-ups, for instance, on our Highway© and Boostway© programmes gain access to some of the top minds in the industry, whether through our networks or the InnoEnergy Master’s School.”

Solaris Offgrid, an InnoEnergy-backed venture, has recently closed a €1m financing round on the back of its appearance at The Business Booster. A British company selling pay-as-you-go solar solutions in Africa, it aims to use this funding to reach 2,500 installations by the end of 2017.

Smartive, another supported start-up, recently won Enterprise Europe Network’s 2016 New Horizon Award, recognising it as the most innovative start-up in the EU. Its success is a direct result of its involvement in the InnoEnergy Highway©, through which it has gained customers including Gas Natural Fenosa, EDP Renewables and GdES (Comsa Emte) – all partners of InnoEnergy Iberia. The company is also being boosted to grow into Germany and France.

The call for start-ups is open until 29th of June and is available for start-ups working in one of InnoEnergy’s eight areas of focus:

· Renewable energy · Smart electric grid
· Electricity storage · Smart and efficient building and cities
· Energy efficiency · Clean coal technologies
· Energy from chemicals fuels · Sustainable nuclear and renewable convergence
