Cartronic consolidates its internationalisation with the support of COFIDES

COFIDES will contribute to the growth of Cartronic Memory S.A., a company from Madrid and which started operating in 2016, in Panamá. For this purpose, it will contribute 100,000 euros taken from the FONPYME Fund through a co-investment instrument.

This is the second project in which COFIDES and Cartronic work together, after helping the company boost its internationalisation process in Mexico, where it implemented a business office in 2015 and which has become one of the communications and security benchmarks, with important ongoing projects.

Cartronic Memory S.A. is a SME from Madrid which was established in 1989. Its activity includes the import, prescription and distribution of storage, security, communications, safety and networking solutions. The company has embarked on a progressive international expansion and now it distributes its products in Canada, Panamá, Mexico, Colombia and Perú.

Panamá offers positive prospects in the Information and Communication Technology sector. It has a great growth potential and a considerable government support given through the Strategic Technology and Innovation Plan (Plan Estratégico de Tecnología e Innovación). In addition to this, Cartronic announces the awarding of a project to the Punta Pacífica Hospital, a benchmark hospital in this country, for bedside medical terminals with access to the patient´s medical record, cutting-edge technology in the area.

COFIDES´s Chairman, José Luis Curbelo, highlighted that COFIDES helps many SMEs in their international expansion, which helps consolidate their competitiveness and job creation both in the country of origin and in the country of destination.

COFIDES is a public-private company which has been offering financial support to Spanish companies investing abroad since 1988. It is the exclusive manager of FIEX and FONPYME funds on behalf of the Secretariat of State for Trade attached to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. Shareholders include Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), Banco Santander, Banco Sabadell and CAF-Development Bank of Latin America.
